Burgundy Spring Auction 2024 Reaches New Heights
In Q1 2024, top Burgundy grand cru wines delivered outstanding results at major global auctions, with prices repeatedly setting new records.
Leroy Musigny Grand Cru 2015 sold at NT$620,000 per bottle at a Geneva auction, up approximately 18.4% year-over-year, drawing widespread market attention. Romanée-Conti 2019 also achieved a significant premium above estimates.
Severe supply-demand imbalance is the core driver of price appreciation. Annual production from Burgundy grand cru plots is extremely limited—some plots produce fewer than 1,000 bottles per year—while demand from wealthy collectors worldwide continues to grow, with Asian institutional buyers further intensifying competition.
Market observers note that while top Burgundy has low liquidity, its scarcity characteristics continue to attract long-term capital allocation even in uncertain macro environments.
